Nature Journal: January’s progress
Since I first posted about this Nature Journal I have been busy stitching away on all the little elements I keep seeing and it is so much fun. Here’s the front cover now its all stitched…

I am very fortunate to have a lovely garden and enjoy taking my dogs on walks in the park and surrounding areas every day so there is always some inspiration to add to the list.
January in April!
As I am writing this it is a beautiful April day with the washing on the line and the lawn freshly cut so January seems a distant memory right now. This doesn’t matter with this project though as I am keeping written notes of all my daily observations for each of the different months. This means I can take my time to decide what to put in the actual page for an individual month and not feel the need to rush.
Here’s how January is coming along…

I decided I wanted to stitch individual elements and applique them on to the page once complete. This means I can stitch things quicker as well, rather than wait for the whole design concept to be complete. Here’s some of the elements to be added on the January page. There’s a fox, Robin, holly leaves, fern leaves, berries and the frozen pond. All of which I can remember actually seeing and observing in January which is what makes this so special.

I have already planned February and March and can’t wait to add these little guys to them which I couldn’t resist stitching already…

I’ll post another photo once I have assembled the January page with all the appliques.
Happy Stitching!
Nicola
