Week 7 – over half way through now and I am so happy seeing all the wonderful stitching everyone is doing on the FB group. This week is simple but incredibly fun as we stitch…

The Vegetable Patch

You will need the following colours…

#3362, #934, #702, #3820, #3853, #782, #746, #550, #350, #3328

Stitch and Colour Guide

  • You can Choose which veg to stitch and in which order – it really doesn’t make a difference.
  • Use 2 strands throughout unless stated otherwise.

Cauliflower

#702: straight stitch to fill in the green leaves, and then with #746 French Knots to fill – make sure they have the uneven edge around the shape so it doesn’t look like a perfect circle.

Tomatoes

#350: Satin stitch. Here’s a chance to practice some neat little satin stitch circles. I always outline in back stitch first to maintain the shape. If you need a refresher you can see a Satin Stitch Circle tutorial here. To finish the tomatoes – #3362: straight stitch the 3 little green lines.

Carrots

#3362: straight stitch the carrot tops then #3853: Slanted satin stitch to fill the carrots (again back stitch the outline first).

Aubergines

#550: Slanted Satin Stitch, #702: straight stitch the tops just blending the stitches in to the #550.

Radish and Sweetcorn

Radish: #3328: Satin Stitch, #702: long chain stitch for tops and straight stitch for the bottoms.

Sweetcorn: #3362: Back stitch the leaves, #3820: French Knots.

Onions

#782: vertical satin stitch and then straight stitch across the top.

Broccoli

#3362: Satin Stitch the stems, #934: French Knots

All the Veg are complete!

I have to say this was one of my favourite areas of the pattern to stitch – all the little veg coming to life with all the fabulous colours just made me really happy when I was stitching!

Make sure you show off your lovely stitching on the Happy Stitching FB Group or send me some pics and I’ll post them here, can’t wait to see how your design is coming along.

Don’t forget you can also share your stitching on Instagram with #stitchdoodlesembroidery.

Happy Stitching!
