This week we are stitching the bridge. Use 2 strands throughout unless stated otherwise…

Colours: #926, #3348, #936, #934

Stitching the Herringbone section…

Herringbone stitch is a really nice decorative filling stitch and is great for borders as well. For this bridge section, I stitched a row of green herringbone and then the blue herringbone row over the top and slightly to the right of the first.

You can find a step by step tutorial for the Herringbone Stitch at the RSN stitch bank with the following link…

How to: Herringbone Stitch

This stitch also featured in the Stitch Fun Sampler which can be seen here.

Stitching the Bridge…

#926: Herringbone Stitch across the uppermost bridge section.
#3348: Stitch another row of Herringbone over the top and slightly to the right of the #926 stitching.
#926: Stem stitch across the very top edge of the bridge to create a nice neat edge to the herringbone stitch.

Now the decorative top section is complete all you need to do is stem stitch the 2 remaining sections.

#936: Stem stitch the layer directly under the herringbone stitch layer.
#934: Stem stitch the remaining ‘hump’ at the bottom of the bridge.

Week 6 is complete.

Make sure you show off your wonderful stitching in the Happy Stitching FB Group or on Instagram with #stitchdoodlesembroidery.

If you need help along the way just ask in the FB group as there are lots of lovely people stitching along with you who can offer lots of advice and support if needed.

Week 7 is on the blog Wednesday 29th March… See you then!

Happy Stitching!
