Welcome to the ‘WinterBerry Cottage’ Stitch A Long

This Stitch A Long is taking place for 10 weeks on the Stitchdoodles blog – Starting Wednesday 15th February 2023 and finishing on Wednesday 19th April 2023.

Each Wednesday during the SAL – a new tutorial will be published on the blog with all the information you need to complete a part of the WinterBerry Cottage Pattern.

This week we are stitching…

2 Formal Berry Trees

You will need the following colours…

#29, #3021, #926

Use 2 strands throughout unless stated otherwise.

#3021: Split stitch the main stem and base. Straight stitch the smaller branches connecting the berries.

#29: Satin stitch the berries. to make them neat and circular – start by tiny back stitching the circle edge and then satin stitch over the top.

For the gorgeous little leaves… #926: Satin Stitch

Complete the other tree in the exact same way.

2 Little Birds…

You will need the following colours… #3809, #3803, #3021, #3756

#3809: back Stitch around the body and wing then fill the body with split stitch.

  • #3803: Satin stitch the wing and tail.
  • #3756: Satin stitch the head and straight stitch a line between the tail feathers.
  • #3021 (1 strand): French Knot the eye & straight stitch beak and feet.

Add a couple of final details just to finish…

  • #3809: Split stitch a line at the back of the head.
  • #3348: split stitch detail at back of head, under tail wing and a few specks on the chest.
