Welcome to week 3!
We have had great fun over the past 2 weeks stitching up some wonderful butterflies and Ice Cream! Now it’s time for a bit of sunshine with the…
Sunflower and Bees
You will need the following colours…
#839, #738, #3772, #743, #310, #783, #906
Use 2 strands throughout unless otherwise stated.

Stitching the Hive…
#738: Brick stitch the rows of the hive trying to keep a tiny gap where the lines are so you can see where they are for the stitching.
#3772 (1 strand):
Split stitch the lines of the hive – keep the stitches small for the curves and go around outer edge as well.

To Finish the hive – #3772 (2 strands): split stitch the circle entrance.
For the Branch – #839: Split stitch.

The Bees…
I don’t know what it is about embroidering bees but they are always so much fun to do and the end result just makes you smile!
You will need the following colours…
#743, #310, #712: Use 1 Strand throughout.
- #743: Satin stitch 2 yellow stripes
- #310: Satin Stitch 1 Black Stripe, the bees head and the tail, straight stitch 2 antennae.
- #712: Chain stitch each wing section twice on top of each other.

The Sunflower…
#783 (1 strand): Satin Stitch the front circle of petals.
#906 (2 strands): Split stitch the stem and Fishbone Stitch the Leaves.
#743 (1 strand): Satin stitch the Outer circle of petals.
#839 (2 strands): French Knot fill the centre.

To finish the block:
#3772: Trellis stitch the soil and back stitch the outline.
#783: Back stitch the outer edge of the block.

Wow – just the 1 block this week but quite a lot of little elements that all combine for a really colourful and fun bit of stitching. I am sure you enjoyed this one if only for those cute tiny bees!
Make sure you show off your lovely stitching on the Happy Stitching FB Group or send me some pics and I’ll post them here, can’t wait to see how your design is coming along.
