Welcome to the ‘Stitch Explorer’ Sampler

This sampler is a slow stitching project for everyone who wants to enjoy learning or just simply stitching lots of different stitches. At this point we have no idea how long it will take to complete, or what it will look like!

Would you like to Stitch this sampler ?

Week 5 stitching…

This week I chose 2 stitches that I really enjoy stitching – Herringbone and Feather Stitch.

You can see from the areas highlighted in green on the sampler – where I stitched…

Herringbone Stitch.

There are 2 lines on the sampler, designed for you to practice Herringbone stitch easily. I chose to stitch a couple of simple versions however if you search this stitch online you will see there are lots of varying ways to stitch it for different effects. On my sampler I stitched…

A single row of Herringbone Stitch with 2 strands DMC…

I then stitched a row of running stitch in yellow along the top and bottom lines to embellish…

For the other row of Herringbone I decided to do a double Herringbone Stitch

Both of these are incredibly simple yet create a really striking addition to the finished piece…

Feather Stitch.

There are 3 distinct lines on the sampler which are there specifically to practice feather stitch. It is a lovely decorative border stitch, as you can see…

Thats as much as I could find time for this week so hope you enjoy.

Make sure you show off your chosen stitches in the Happy Stitching FB Group or on Instagram with #stitchdoodlesembroidery.

If you need help along the way just ask in the FB group as there are lots of lovely people stitching along with you who can offer lots of advice and support if needed.

Happy Stitching!
