SAL: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I do the stitches?

This design is quite a challenge for a beginner but sometimes that is the best way to learn – find a design you love and just have a go. There are lots of places to learn individual stitches depending on the way you like to learn. Take a look at this page…How to Teach Yourself Hand Embroidery Stitches

What is the Plain piece of Fabric for?

Along with the Cotton Fabric with the design printed on, you also receive a piece of plain calico. This is a stabiliser fabric – you can find out how to use this and why here… How to use Stabiliser fabric

Which hoop should I use?

This is completely up to you. With this SAL lasting a year I recommend you use a hoop that allows you to access the whole design with plenty of room around the edge so it doesn’t get dirty. This design fits perfectly in a No.4 Square Nurge Hoop. It won’t need to be taken in and out and will be nice and tight for all that stitching! You can find out about these hoops here.. Nurge Square Hoops

Where can I buy the materials I need for my Pattern?

You can purchase Fabric, Hoops, Frames and many more items from the Stitchdoodles Shop… shop.stitchdoodles.com

What is a PDF and how do I download?

A PDF (Portable Digital Format) – is a digital file that is sent to you via email  – you click on the link to open the download/pattern. Please do save this to your computer or print out for future use as these individual PDF tutorials will not be available once the SAL finishes (Dec 2023).

How to view a PDF Pattern…

This is really simple: You will need a PDF reader to be able to view the attached file. You can download a free reader for your computer here.
