It’s week 6 and you are going to love this – its such a fun one as you will be stitching…

Santa’s Sleigh and Christmas Bells

How to stitch the Sleigh…

You will need the following colours for the main red area: #666, #816, #321

Use 2 strands unless stated otherwise.

The Main Red Area is stitched with Battlement filling stitch. With #666 stitch a grid – vertical lines first and then horizontal lines to form the grid.

#321: Stitch a second grid over the first (just to the right on the vertical, just below on the horizontal lines).

#816: Stitch a 3rd grid in the same way.

Keep overlaying grids in this same way alternating the 3 colours in the same sequence until the Sleigh is completely filled…

Finish by stitching a diagonal stitch on the last grids cross section (in that grids colour) to anchor the grids in place.

To complete the sleigh, #816: Back Stitch around the curved lower edge of the sleigh to neaten the edge as in the photo below…

Stitch the Sleigh runners and 2 attachment pieces: #3021 Split stitch.

Completing the Sleigh

Using the Photo below, stitch the remaining areas as follows:

  • #742: Brick stitch or Split stitch the 2 yellow presents.
  • #825: Brick Stitch or Split stitch the blue present.
  • #415: Long stitch the Silver ribbons and double chain stitch the bows.
  • ECRU: Stitch French Knots along the curved top edge.

Holly and berries:

  • #986: Satin stitch the leaves
  • #3021: Split stitch the stems
  • #321: French Knots for the berries

Your Sleigh should look so Christmassy now it’s all stitched up! I really hope you enjoyed that challenge and can’t wait to see your sleighs in the FB group.

Now it’s time to Stitch the Bells.

You will need the following colours: #834, #986, #321, #3829, #3021

If you don’t like the satin stitch for the holly leaves – back stitch the outlines and fill in with split stitch instead.

Week 6 is complete!…
