Welcome to the ‘Festive Forest’ Stitch A Long

This Stitch A Long will take place for 12 weeks on the Stitchdoodles blog – Starting Wednesday 21st September 2022.

Each Wednesday during the SAL – a new tutorial will be published on the blog with all the information you need to complete a part of the Festive Pattern.

If you are not familiar with a Stitchdoodles SAL and this is all new to you and you would like to join in, please go to this page to get all the information.

Do you need help with any of the stitches?

A Stitch A Long doesn’t provide you with the step by step instructions for the stitches themselves – it is a tutorial on how to stitch the pattern design – colours, techniques and stitches used etc. I will link to a ‘How to’ for certain stitches where I can, if you need further guidance, please take a look here …

Welcome to week 9!

This week is a nice easy one so if you are still catching up with the last 2 weeks this won’t take you long and is a nice filler week. Here’s what we will be stitching…

Stitching Lines 3 and 4…

Stitch with whipped double running stitch as you have done in week 5 using #3345 and #321.

Stitching the Banners…

You will need the following colours… #321, #3820, #3345, #798
Use 2 strands.

Alternate the 3 colours to stitch the flags. Star stitch the star decoarations in the middle of each flag and then straight stitch the edge to complete.

#798: straight stitch the string holding all the flags together.

Stitching the Birds…

Use 2 threads.

Bird with hat… #796:Split stitch the bird outline and chain stitch the tail and wing.
#321: Satin stitch the hat
#415: French knot hat trim and bobble
#166: Chain stitch over the wing for extra colour

Plain Bird… #796: Split stitch outline including tail and wing and eye circle.

Both birds… #310: Straight stitch the eyes, beak and feet.

Stitching the Trees…

Use 2 threads.

#829: Stem stitch the stem

#3345: Individually chain stitch the leaves.

Week 9 is complete! Only 1 more to go now and you can finish the design.

Make sure you show off your wonderful stitching in the Happy Stitching FB Group or on Instagram with #stitchdoodlesembroidery.

If you need help along the way just ask in the FB group as there are lots of lovely people stitching along with you who can offer lots of advice and support if needed.

Week 10 is on the blog Wednesday 23rd November… See you then!

Happy Stitching!
