Welcome to the ‘Festive Forest’ Stitch A Long
This Stitch A Long will take place for 10 weeks on the Stitchdoodles blog – Starting Wednesday 21st September 2022.
Each Wednesday during the SAL – a new tutorial will be published on the blog with all the information you need to complete a part of the Festive Pattern.
If you are not familiar with a Stitchdoodles SAL and this is all new to you and you would like to join in, please go to this page to get all the information.
Do you need help with any of the stitches?
A Stitch A Long doesn’t provide you with the step by step instructions for the stitches themselves – it is a tutorial on how to stitch the pattern design – colours, techniques and stitches used etc. I will link to a ‘How to’ for certain stitches where I can, if you need further guidance, please take a look here …
Welcome to week 7…
Stitching the Fox
You will need the following colours… #921, ECRU, #829, #3345, #321.
Use 2 strands throughout unless otherwise stated.
#921: Long & short stitch
I outline the areas to be filled in first with back stitch and then working downwards from the scarf, start to fill in the body shape.
Stitch up to (not over) the lines for the legs and with #829 Back stitch the leg lines as you reach them otherwise it will be tricky to figure out where they are supposed to be.
Some of the areas are so small you are really just straight stitching to fill.
Do the same to fill the head area leaving a gap for the eye and on the inside of the ear.

ECRU: Long & Short Stitch
Fill in the areas as shown in the photo in the same way as you did for the orange.
Straight stitch the zigzags on the tail where it meets the orange.
Straight stitch to fill the eye and ear areas.

Add in the little details to complete…
#310: Staright stitch the nose and eye detail so he looks like he is looking upwards.
#3345: Satin stitch the scarf and then with #321 straight stitch the outlines in red as well as the little tassells on the end.

Stitching the Deer…
You will need the following colours… #422, ECRU, #829.
Use 2 strands throughout unless otherwise stated.
#422: Back stitch the areas to be stitched in #422 and then use long & short stitch or split stitch to fill those areas (head and body)

Make sure the stitch direction is in keeping with the natural fur.
#829: Straight stitch the hooves.
ECRU: Complete in the same stitch as for the body and fill in the chest, under belly and inner ears.
Add a few straight stitches on the deer’s back.
#310: Straight stitch the nose and eye.
Make sure you have stitched all 4 hooves not just 2 like I have just realised!!
