Welcome to the ‘Bees and Blossoms’ Stitch A Long

This Stitch A Long is taking place for 10 weeks on the Stitchdoodles blog – Starting Wednesday 18th May 2022 and finishing on Wednesday 20th July 2022.

Each Wednesday during the SAL – a new tutorial will be published on the blog with all the information you need to complete a part of the Bees and Blossom Pattern.

If you are not familiar with a Stitchdoodles SAL and this is all new to you and you would like to join in, please go to this page to get all the information.

Do you need help with any of the stitches?

A Stitch A Long doesn’t provide you with the step by step instructions for the stitches themselves – it is a tutorial on how to stitch the pattern design – colours, techniques and stitches used etc. I will link to a ‘How to’ for certain stitches where I can, if you need further guidance, please take a look here …How to Teach Yourself Hand Embroidery Stitches

Welcome to Week 8

This week we are adding in even more blooms to your beautiful embroidery. Here’s the stitch area we will be completing…

Stitching the Flower Arrangement…

You will need the following colours… #333, #340, #712, #211, #471, #472

Use 2 strands throughout unless stated otherwise.

Stitch the Flower First, as follows…

  1. #333: Straight stitch the petals.
  2. #712: Small straight stitch equally spaced apart around the inner circle edge.
  3. #340: French Knots to fill the centre.

Next, the greenery and buds…

#340: Chain Stitch the Petals for the buds.

Stitch the remaining foliage as shown…

For a final detail, #211: Straight stitch inside the chain stitch on the buds.

The 2 little buds left on the ends can be done in satin stitch.

Here’s how it should look when all stitched on both sides of the centre flower…

That just leaves a couple of extra details for this week…

Hexagons

You will need the following colours: #3820, #729, #3853

Each Hexagon is stitched by weaving. Stitch evenly spaced lines across the hexie and then weave over the top of these lines from left to right and back again to fill the space. This is the same as you did for the Bee Hive. Once the hexagon is filled, long stitch around the outer edge to finish.

Stitch all 3 hexagons in the same way but each in a different colour as shown in the photo.

Simple Flower / #472, #3712

Split stitch the stems.

Chain stitch the flowers and straight stitch inside to fill.

There is just one little honeycombe left to stitch for this section and you are all done.

Week 8 is complete!
