Welcome to the ‘Bees and Blossoms’ Stitch A Long

This Stitch A Long will take place for 10 weeks on the Stitchdoodles blog – Starting Wednesday 18th May 2022 and finishing on Wednesday 20th July 2022.

Each Wednesday during the SAL – a new tutorial will be published on the blog with all the information you need to complete a part of the Bees and Blossom Pattern.

If you are not familiar with a Stitchdoodles SAL and this is all new to you and you would like to join in, please go to this page to get all the information.

The Mini Stitch a Long

If you have decided to join us for the first 3 weeks to stitch the mini pattern, then the tutorials are exactly the same regardless. You will just finish on Wednesday 8th June.

Do you need help with any of the stitches?

A Stitch A Long doesn’t provide you with the step by step instructions for the stitches themselves – it is a tutorial on how to stitch the pattern design – colours, techniques and stitches used etc. I will link to a ‘How to’ for certain stitches where I can, if you need further guidance, please take a look here …How to Teach Yourself Hand Embroidery Stitches

Welcome to Week 2

This week you will be stitching those gorgeous flowers surrounding the bee – the purple and lavendar colours make them so enjoyable, I had these stitched up in no time!

Flower Circle

You will need the following colours…

#211, #340, #333, #471, #472

Use 2 strands throughout unless stated otherwise.

These flowers are nice and simple to stitch and it doesn’t really make much difference which order you stitch them in.

Start by stitching the greenery as follows…

Next bring in the gorgeous colours…

  • #333: Chain Stitch the Petals & fill each with straight stitch.
  • #211: Satin stitch the centre cones.
  • 211 (1 strand): straight stitch half way into centre of each petal.

#211: Stitch French Knots all over to create the flower top.

  • #340: Lazy Daisy Stitch the main flower
  • #211: Straight stitch inside each chain stitch
  • #333: French Knots to fill centre
  • #333: Chain stitch the petals for the side flower

These flowers are stitched with straight stitch in each of the sections using the different purples. You could also say they are satin stitched just depends how you look at it!

Start by stitching the top section and fill in each section down from there in the following colour order… #211 / #340 / 333 / #211

When you start a new colour for the next section – bring the stitches up into the previous ones so the sections blend rather than stop and start. (as shown in this photo)…

  • #333: Split stitch the petal edges
  • #211: Satin stitch to fill each petal
  • #340: Satin stitch centre top

Once all your flowers are stitched, week 2 is done and it should look really pretty already!

Week 2: 10 week SAL
