Week 7 and it’s all about the wildflowers – this will probably be a quick block for you depending on how frustrating or easy you find satin stitch!
If this is all new to you and you are wondering what this SAL is all about – please go to this page for all the details. You can join in anytime as the blog tutorials won’t be disappearing when the SAL ends.
Wildflowers Colour Guide…

This really is a nice simple block to stitch…
Use the following photo as your stitch and thread guide for all the elements in the block…

Starting with the stems of the flowers – Stitch them in Stem Stitch working from the bottom of each of the stems to the flower head….

next, the tiny little yellow buds are completed with single chain stitch…

If you need help with either stem stitch or chain stitch you can see a previous tutorial here.
Stitching the larger flowers…

Complete the straight stitches on the top of the flower first before filling in the circle with Slanted Satin Stitch.
I like to outline the shape in back stitch first before completing the Satin Stitch. You can see a more detailed tutorial of satin stitch here.
And that’s all there is too it. Finish the block by stitching the outline in #919 in Back Stitch. Week 7 is complete.

Share your finished block on the Happy Stitching FB Group or send me some pics and I’ll post them here.
Don’t forget you can also share your stitching on Instagram with #stitchdoodlesembroidery.
Happy Stitching!
